It’s the most wonderful time of the year, for some will be drivin’ home for Christmas and others will be rockin around the Christmas tree, because baby, it’s cold outside!
Every year the same songs are played on radios, streaming services and shops, but what is the story behind these songs and why do we play the same ones each rather than encourage new material?
Maybe it is because we only play them for a short time each year, whereas other songs can be played all year round. I do not want to get into the maths of that, but come with me as I go through some of the most famous Christmas songs of all time.
Music is a therapy, it can invoke emotion, change your mood and assist in obtaining a specific mindset. Christmas music, especially the songs that are repeated yearly, can encourage unique emotions, ones that only we feel at that time of year, and these could be bad or good, but for many they are significant.
